Deal or No Deal

Dear God: Sometimes I watch Deal or no Deal on television. People have an opportunity to choose a brief case that may have as much as $1 million in it. It's a frustrating show because most contestants are greedy and even when they are ensured by the banker of taking home hundreds of thousands of dollars, they keep trying to win more. Sometimes I even shout advice at the television contestants.

If my life were on television and people could see how I grasp at things: a nicer car, more furniture, more clothes, more stuff for my grandchildren, then I'm sure there'd be people shouting at me to stop and consider what I already have.

"The kingdom of heaven is like treasure that was hidden in a field. When a man found it, he hid it again. He was very happy. So he went and sold everything he had. And he bought that field" (Matthew 13:44, NIRV).

In Jesus' name. Amen.
