Caramel-Chocolate Chip Brownies

Caramel and brownie aficionados, unite with this recipe!

1 pkg German chocolate cake mix
3/4 C margarine
1/3 C evaporated milk
1 C chopped walnuts
1 C semisweet chocolate chips

Caramel mixture:

1/3 C evaporated milk
12 oz Kraft caramels, unwrapped

With electric mixer, beat cake mix, margarine, and 1/3 C milk for 2 minutes. Stir in walnuts by hand. Spoon 1/2 of the cake mixture into greased 9" x 13" pan. Spread mixture evenly. (For easier spreading place pan in preheated oven for one minute.) Bake at 350° F for 6 minutes. Remove from oven and sprinkle chocolate chips over the cake.

Melt Kraft caramels and milk in microwave or over low heat on top of stove. Drizzle over the chocolate chips. Drop remaining cake mixture over caramel sauce by teaspoons, as if making cookies. This will ease the spreading. Bake another 15 minutes or until toothpick inserted in middle of brownies comes out clean. Allow to cool before cutting.

Servings: 20 brownies
